May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Just like physical health, mental health is important to personal, community, and social development. In recognition of mental health, we want to highlight some counselling and therapy resources available to our community with the help of our partners, The Cupcake Girls and Pineapple Support.
The Cupcake Girls
The Cupcake Girls provide confidential support to those involved in the sex industry, as well as trauma-informed outreach, advocacy, holistic resources, and referral services to provide prevention and aftercare to those affected by sex trafficking.
Some services The Cupcake Girls offer include direct care programs in addition to community resources. Direct care programs include the resource referral program, advocacy program, the mentorship program, and support groups. Depending on your requirements, these programs can help provide a peer support system, put you in touch with trusted community organizations, or connect you directly with an assigned Cupcake Girls advocate who can offer direct, one-on-one assistance.
"At The Cupcake Girls, we believe that mental health is a key part of liberation. We walk alongside our participants with empathy and care, offering support systems that center their voices, autonomy, and dreams for the future." – Amy-Marie Merrell, Co-Executive Director at The Cupcake Girls.
Pineapple Support

“After spending over two decades working in the adult industry and witnessing far too many friends and colleagues struggle in silence, I created Pineapple Support out of a deep passion for our community, and that’s how it continues to be led today. By the industry, for the industry. Everyone, no matter their job, deserves access to mental health care that’s free from judgment and stigma. That’s why we’re here, and why we offer free therapy, support groups, and resources tailored specifically for our community. We’re here to listen, to care, and to stand beside those who feel unseen or unheard. This isn’t just my mission, it’s personal, and it’s something the whole team believe in with all our hearts.” - Leya Tanit, Founder, CEO and Fundraising Community Chair at Pineapple Support
We encourage all members of our community who need therapy or counselling services to reach out to The Cupcake Girls or Pineapple Support.
